From grapes dried for four months to concentrate the juices, this rich dessert wine makes for an excellent alternative to port. Making this wine since 1874, the Speri family have had lots of time to perfect this luxurious ending to a delicious meal. Arcane fact: Recioto comes from 'recie', 'ears' in local dialect which describes two small clusters that often branch out of the main bunch of grapes--as well as perhaps the nickname of old sig. speri (see photo) The ears are thought to be of better quality because they stick out and catch more sun.
