Axel Prufer was born and raised in East Germany but moved to France as a young man to take up a career in wine making. He now owns several small plots of vines in the high mountains behind Beziers in France's Languedoc region.These are delicious wines made naturally with as little intervention as possible - many of Prufer's wines have no added sulphur. This one has just a bit.

This 100% grenache comes from a beautiful hilltop vineyard surrounded by forest. It shows a tremendous elegance with a focus less on weight than on the bright, cherried loveliness that it's name would imply. If you've not explored the world of "natural" wines, this would be a great place to start.
