Ferro China is a sub-category of amari that contains iron ('ferro') and cinchona bark (china). The iron gives Bisleri its red hue and delicious citrus notes. We love its medicinal roots: Ferro China was used to treat anemia and malaria in the 1800's (the marshes around Rome were notorious at the time). Italian moms also used to mix a spoonful of the liqueur with whipped egg yolk, which makes for a tasty contemporary cocktail. But potential health benefits aside, we just think its one of the best tasting amari available.
