Les Lunes/ Populis Reserve 2020
A perfect porch pounder, stoop sipper, bbq chilled red from Diego Roig & Shaunt Oungoulian in Orinda, CA, Bright, light and easy drinking. Might be because they added in 10% white grapes! Lots of red fruit sorta a cherry note and then just pure refreshing acidity. The kind of acidity you'd expect from a white wine- citrus & lemon. A blend of Carignan (60%) Zinfandel (20%) Grenache ( 10%), French Colombard (10%). Everything is fermented separately and then blended and bottled with 15ppm of sulphur. Some of the reds were de stemmed and fermented on the skins for about 10 days with one punch down a day. Twenty percent of the overall wine is rose from Carignan from the Venturri Vineyard ( planted in 1948) that gets blended into the wine. The Zin was also a saignee that was on the skins for 24 hours. The Colombard was direct pressed.
