Ferragosto

Originally honoring Roman Emperor Augustus (from which we get the name of the month 'Agosto' or 'August'), Ferragosto marks the height of Italian summer. Officially, the holiday is August 15 but many of us refer to the entire first two weeks of the month as 'Ferragosto.' Either way, grigliate ('grilling') are big as is lazing by the sea, relaxing at the mountains & generally having a good time!
