We first heard about Dominik and Gerald through Franz Weninger, and the first cuvée blew us away — juicy, compact, vibrant, and way too good for the price. They’re focused entirely on Blaufränkisch from Mittelburgenland, aiming to prove the region is more than just fat, hot-climate reds. Working out of a salvaged garage winery, they’ve been reviving abandoned parcels and slowly buying up vineyards from co-op growers, shifting everything to organic farming. Their wine is a lighter, more lifted take on Blaufränkisch: crunchy red fruit, green herbs, spice, and earth, with fine tannins and bright acidity. Grown on magmatic rock and green schist at 450m elevation — it’s savory, fresh, and incredibly drinkable. Only 100 cases produced per vintage.
