Jean-Marc Pillot is one of the benchmark growers in Chassagne-Montrachet, the fourth generation of his family to farm these vineyards. His holding in Les Fairendes — the most highly regarded section of the larger Morgeot premier cru — is small, just a quarter-hectare of 50-year-old vines. The 2023 vintage makes this bottling especially scarce. Frost and poor flowering reduced yields across Burgundy, and Pillot’s already tiny parcel produced even less than usual. To balance the site’s natural richness, he harvested slightly earlier, resulting in a wine that shows layered texture and old-vine depth, cut through with freshness and mineral clarity — hallmarks of his precise, elegant style.
