When we heard Milan Nestarec’s wife had started her own project, we had to taste it — and we’re so glad we did. MIRA crafts one of the most compelling Sauvignon Blancs we’ve come across. Think Riffault, but more focused, more precise. It’s not a wine you dissect — though Francesco couldn’t stop repeating “mango, mango” — it’s a wine you feel. Sourced from 25-year-old vines on clay soils, the grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in a 1000L acacia barrel, with some whole berries left in the mix. After six months of quiet in the cellar, it’s bottled — raw, expressive, and humming with energy. The label features modern dance pioneer Ruth St. Denis, a tribute to MIRA’s own background as a dancer. There’s rhythm in this wine. It moves.
