Almost Spring

Small producers, big discoveries & a lot of natural wine

We regularly bring together wine lovers and wine makers for tastings and discussions, seminars and special events in our Enoteca (tasting room). With 13-foot ceilings, exposed beams & bluestone floor, it opens up to a private garden, creating a warm and comfortable ambience--like being in the wine cellar of your Piedmontese grandfather. See "Upcoming" below for a full schedule.

The enoteca is available for corporate tastings for 10 to 75 guests. Custom tastings are led by our wine experts &/or winemakers with a selected theme and wines from our store.

The enoteca can also be rented for other private tasting events. Our staff will help customize the event and coordinate the details of the wine, accompaniments and decor.

Corporate Gifts

We love a good gift and have lots of suggestions, including gift cards in many denominations. We're also happy to work with you on finding just the right thing for those clients. We actually enjoy tracking down that perfect hard-to-source gift, whether it’s a 1955 Armagnac or a 2005 Harlan. Just name the budget and we can take care of the rest. A phone call and an emailed spreadsheet is all it usually takes to give everyone on your list a holiday glow.

No matter what the choice, all our the gifts come impeccably packaged, either wrapped in our signature paper and saddle-stitched grosgrain ribbon with hand-letterpress note card or in one of our Pasanella & Son wood boxes. Once your items have shipped, you will receive an itemized delivery log listing delivery status so you'll never have to wonder "Did they get it?"

About Us

Built in 1839 for shipchandlers Slate, Gardiner and Howell, our building was later converted to a bar with rooming house above (read: brothel) in 1882. After that, girls were replaced with fish, with 70,000 pounds of it - a jet's worth - in three freezers at any one time.

Now we stock over 400 wines, ranging from small, family-run vineyards to the most well-respected and sought after winemakers and also including a wide selection of bottles under $15. Every bottle in the store has been hand-selected.

We also offer an equally well-considered array of wine-related accessories, from super-sturdy titanium crystal glasses to antique French corkscrews - all selected by Rebecca Robertson Pasanella, former Home & Decorating Editor at Martha Stewart Living.

Riesling Done Right

Purity, precision, rigorousness and minerality.  German Reisling Lauer Barrel X is sure to please.  One of Eric Asimov of the New York Times favorites.  Brand Reisling Feinharb is a guilty pleasure. Just slightly off-dry and very delicious, this organic estate-grown Riesling is full of juicy, apricot-y notes but also has the acidity to balance that touch of sweetness.  Collin our rep from Von Boden will be pouring.
