Banhez Mezcal Joven Espadin

From San Miguel Ejutla, a village in Oaxaca, Banhez is a cooperative made up of 36 families & is committed to sustainable, fair trade mezcal production the same way it’s been done by their ancestors for nearly two centuries: Underground wood-fired pits, donkey-pulled tahonas (stone-wheel mills), fermentation in wooden tanks and small-batch distillation in copper alembics. The real deal, not some multi-national or hipster gringos pretending to be 'authentic.' The taste is just as refreshing: fruitier and juicier than many Mezcals, accented by wisps of smoke thanks to its blend of 90% Espadin with 10% Barril agave. Winner of Best Mezcal and Double Gold awards at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition
