Giacomo Baraldo Caccialupi Rosso 2020

From a 1970 vineyard on calcareous clay in San Casciano dei Bagni, this is mostly Sangiovese with a touch of Canaiolo. The site gives the wine energy and lift—bright acidity, firm but refined tannins, and a structure built for aging. The nose is precise and expressive—orange peel, dried herbs, rosemary, and a mix of savory spice and mineral notes. On the palate, it’s taut and focused, with firm acidity, fine tannins, and a long, layered finish. Structured, age-worthy, and full of character. We rarely bring in wines from the same producer back-to-back, but with Giacomo Baraldo it’s different—there’s something essential in what he’s doing, and this wine shows it.
