The identity of Closerie du Pelan is shaped by the native yeasts present on the berries, gentle extraction, and ageing in used barrels. This non-fined wine is low in sulphur. As of 2022 the Amoreau family (Château le Puy) has partnered with the Moro family to revive the estate.
The assertive 1999 Pelan offers punchy, iron-like minerality and earthy fruits, with muscular tannins that echo the warmth of the vintage, yet it manages to remain attractive and elegant despite its feral nature.
