Weingut Kogl Niemandsland Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Tamara Kögl, a third-generation winemaker, is bringing fresh energy to her family’s vineyards on steep, sunlit slopes in Southern Styria. With a mix of sandy and limestone soils, this land shapes her unique, age-worthy Sauvignon Blancs that linger in old wood barrels, sometimes for up to two years, developing layers of complexity and intensity. Her patient, hands-off approach captures the full character of the estate. Now, enter the 2019 ‘Niemandsland’ Sauvignon Blanc—meaning “No Man’s Land.” This wine is pure hillside magic, grown on light marl and limestone soils with sun-soaked exposure. Hand-harvested, native yeast fermented, and aged on the lees, part of it rests in large used oak barrels and part in stainless steel, resulting in a wine that’s as textured and wild as its name suggests.
